The Retreat Master
Drupon Champa Ringzin Rinpoche
Our Retreat Master is Drupon Champa Rigzin Rinpoche.
He was born in Ladakh, a remote kingdom in the mountain region of
Karakoram, close to the source of the Indus.
He entered Lama Yuru Monastery at the age of 12, he
began a 3 year retreat under Khunga Rinpoche. His retreat group
included H.H Chetsang Rinpoche, Drupon Samten Rinpoche and Khenchen
Kunchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche.
His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche
He did his Ngodro and Five-Fold Path of the
Mahammudra with Khunga Rinpoche during which time Khunga Rinpoche
passed on. Lama Champa continued his three year retreat, a study of the
Six Yogas of Naropa, under Lama Sonam Jorpel Rinpoche, who is also Lama
Champa's uncle!
At the Snake Year Teachings Lama Champa was appointed
Drupon (Retreat Master) and has guided many disciples through their
three year retreat. He spends some of his time travelling to Europe and
Chile where he also has many Western Disciples.
Lama Champa speaks English very well, and has a
wonderful sense of humor. He is very precise and clear in his
teachings. Also humble and down to earth, we all feel very privileged
to be under his guidance.
