An Appeal from Drikung Disciples
Participating in the Three Year Retreat.

We are very excited to inform you about a traditional Drikung Kagyu three year retreat for international students that began in Almora, India in September 2004.

It is our sincere hope that faithful ones all over the world will hear of this retreat and share in its vast merit by lending their support.

Under the auspices of the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and Kyabje Garchen Triptrul Rinpoche fourteen disciples from eight different countries will gather together to engage in the practices of the Fivefold Mahamudra and the Six Yogas of Naropa from September 1,2004 until December 2007 under the direction of the Retreat Master, Drupon Champa Rigzin Rinpoche.

In April 2002, at the request of Garchen Rinpoche and several sincere disciples, His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche authorized a traditional three-year retreat to be held in India. Through the efforts of many people, our aspirational prayers are coming to fruition.

Originally, full sponsorship of the retreat was to be provided. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, it has become necessary for us, the retreatants, to raise the funds required to cover the basic costs of the retreat. Due to the extraordinary generosity of Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, who hs provided the Almora Retreat Centre free of charge, fourteen meditators can complete the three year retreat for the very low cost of $40,000USD. (A detailed enumeration of expenses is available on request.)

Having committed to cover half of the retreat costs, the meditators are requesting your help to offer whatever you are able in order to raise the remaining $20,000 USD. This money will cover food costs for the retreatants, bedding and minor upgrades to the retreat facilities, salaries for the driver/supply purchaser and the cook, water, gas and electrical utilities – all for the duration of the retreat. The money will also be used to sponsor the extensive fire pujas to be held during the retreat.

Donations will be accepted until the conclusion of the retreat. In recognition of the interdependent aspirations and samaya of the meditators and their supporters, the name of very retreat sponsor will be recorded in a book on the shrine of the assembly hall where the practitioners will gather for the daily protectors’ practice.

Tax deductible donations can be made by check to:

Garchen Institute India 3 Year Retreat

And can be sent by post to:
India Three Year Retreat Fund,
Jenny Meadowcroft,
1304 E Pine Ridge Drive,
Prescott, AZ 96303

Should you be unable to donate financially, your faithful prayers will be of inconceivable benefit for the success of our retreat.

May the blessings of this great practice lineage flower throughout the world for the benefit of all beings!
